Marina Costmetatos
I have been practicing acupuncture for over 15 years, specialising in women’s health, including fertility and pregnancy support, mental-emotional issues - sleep disorders, anxiety and stress-relief.
I enjoy working with elderly people and with children - acupuncture and herbs can be of great help to everyone, and I want to spread the word and help as many people as possible.
I am originally from Russia and Ukraine, and I also have strong personal connection with Greece. I have been working and living in London for the last 25 years. I speak Russian and English.
Acupuncture means “needle therapy” – very thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body. To me acupuncture is more like tuning a musical instrument – some strings need to be tightened, some need to be loosened up, and acupuncture needles are like continuation of the strings. Acupuncture helps to achieve body-mind harmony.
It is a very diverse ancient therapy, there are many branches and types of acupuncture – Chinese, Japanese, Korean; Five elements, TCM, Tung, Tan, Meridian, Yuan Qi; scalp, ear, abdominal; and so on and so forth.
Although needles are the main tool of the trade, there is much more to acupuncture then just needles - moxibustion (stimulating body points by burning tiny herbal cones on them), cupping, electro-acupuncture, magnets. We can always find the most comfortable and effective method suitable for your individual needs.
Acupuncture is a holistic therapy – it means that even when you come with a particular complaint, the condition of the whole body is taken into account for diagnosis and treatment - to benefit the whole person - the body, the mind, and the emotions.
Acupuncture works by activating body’s own healing mechanisms, that is why acupuncture has no contraindications. It can be used to reduce medication side-effects, or to help people who (for various reasons) need to avoid medication.
