Therapy: Yoga Therapy, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Hatha Yoga

Hi, I’m Charlotte and I have been teaching yoga since 2017.

Around the same time that I became a yoga teacher, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. I read books and watched Youtube videos on how yoga could be made more accessible for people dealing with conditions, illnesses, or who cannot get up and down from a mat easily.

This led me to me training for 2 years with the ‘The Yoga Root’ institute in Egham UK to become a Yoga Therapist. I now specialise in running Chair Yoga and Yoga Therapy sessions, sharing the wonderful benefits of yoga with all people.

In October 2019, I joined the Women + Health family as the CAM Project Manager. I’m happy to still be a part of the team as a CAM Practitioner, supporting the Women + Health’s ethos to make low cost therapies available to women.

Particular area of interest: I’m especially interested in using yoga to help people dealing with conditions, illnesses, and injuries. I’m experienced in using Yoga to support women’s health for example conditions such as Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, as well as chronic fatigue, back pain and stress related issues such as anxiety and depression. I have extensive experience using yoga to help people with Parkinson’s Disease.

I am a 200 hour qualified vinyasa flow yoga instructor, graduated from the Frame Yoga Academy in London in 2017.

I am training as a Yoga Therapist with ‘The Yoga Root’ institute in Egham UK, and will fully qualify early 2021.

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices which originated in ancient India. Physical and mental wellbeing is boosted through asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), & relaxations. The physical practice focuses on building strength, flexibility, and balance.

Chair Yoga has all the benefits of yoga with the support of using a chair. Practices are done either sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. Chair Yoga is perfect for people dealing with injuries, conditions, or who cannot get up and down form a mat easily. Everyone can do it!

Benefits of Yoga & Chair Yoga improves flexibility, builds muscles strength, and increases blood flow. Breathing practices help to alleviate stress, anxiety, improving overall mood. The deep relaxation experienced in Savansana (final relaxation) activates the parasympathetic nervous system allowing the body to restore, rejuvenate, & strengthen immunity.

Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and wellbeing through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga. Yoga Therapy is a 121 session, tailored to the individual client’s needs. It is used to help ease the symptoms of a wide range of disorders such as; high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic fatigue, back pain and stress related issues such as anxiety and depression.

Benefit of Yoga Therapy: The goals of yoga therapy include eliminating, reducing, or managing symptoms that cause suffering and helping to prevent the occurrence or re-occurrence of underlying causes of illness.
