About the practitioner: I am a strong supporter of complementary therapies and see good health ‘as not just a matter of not being ill but rather a state of radiant inner being’. This is the level at which natural therapies work and also the philosophy I embrace. The therapies I am fully qualified and insured to practise are all ancient healing modalities, dating back centuries.
My first encounter with natural healing was in 1990 when I was introduced to Usui Reiki. I later progressed to learning Sekhem, which I connected strongly with as a higher vibration energy, and trained to Master/Teacher level. I only started practising professionally after I moved to London in 2002. I have a great thirst for knowledge and so enjoy reading and learning about and updating myself on various therapies. I am also a qualified Massage In Schools Instructor - a programme that supports children between the ages of 4-12 in schools, playgroups, community centres, etc., through creative, nurturing child-to-child massage.
In addition to offering therapies at various wellness centres, I have also provided treatments in offices and participated in pampering events arranged by voluntary organisations and ethnic minority communities.
I am a fully insured practitioner with more than 15 years experience, holding the following qualifications:
Diploma:
VTCT Level 3 in Anatomy & Physiology; Indian Head Massage; Reflexology
SFTR accredited – Meditation Teacher
Professional Certificate:
Hot Stone Reflexology
Master Teacher / Practitioner - Sekhem energy healing
Massage In Schools Instructor
I am also a Member of:
Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT)
Massage In Schools Association
About the therapies:
Sekhem Energy Healing is a non-invasive ancient Egyptian energy healing modality that is channelled through the hands, in a similar manner to Reiki, to help realign, release and shift the blocked / stagnant layers of energy around the body. It can support and help ease emotional and spiritual distress and mental anxieties - that are the root cause of most physical discomforts - and bring to the surface issues, one is often unaware of at a deeper level, that need to be dealt with. The energy works at a cellular level and so supports any changes a client seeks to make. In the 15+ years I have been practising Sekhem, I have seen it benefit clients in numerous ways, such as finding courage and strength to stand up to and face fears, ability to cope better with grief, gain more confidence, create self-awareness, experience positive shifts in their attitude and way of thinking and feeling. Generally after a session clients also feel lighter, calmer, clearer and more energised. Sekhem can work alongside any other traditional Western or Eastern treatment and is also a totally safe therapy for easing discomforts pre- and post-surgery and following chemotherapy and radiation - it is not, however, a substitute for any medical treatment necessary in such instances.
Reflexology is a relaxing holistic therapy that helps to restore and activate the body’s natural healing potential and create homeostasis. The treatment involves applying pressure to specific reflex points (on the foot or hand) that correspond to the various organs, limbs, glands, muscles and systems of the body. This helps to de-stress the organs, calm the body, mind and emotions, trigger the release of toxins and assist the body to function more effectively. The treatment also helps boost blood circulation and the immune system, ease leg pain, backaches and anxieties, support PMS, delayed labour and better sleep, as well as assist in relieving the impact of past injuries and illnesses. Hot Stone Reflexology includes the use of hot stones, in between finger pressure, on specific reflex points on the feet to release tension at a deeper level. The heat of the stones, on the feet and lower legs, penetrate deeper into the layers of the muscles and assist in opening and activating the energy channels of the reflex points. Other benefits include: deeper relaxation and cleansing of the organs, better elimination of waste from the body, increased action of leukocytes which help fight infections, and the release of tension in connective tissues, lower legs and back. The effect of hot stone reflexology is also believed to last longer than a standard reflexology treatment.
Indian Head Massage is an invigorating upper body massage that is carried out over clothes, in a seated position, and does not involve the use of oils. It focuses on areas in the upper body where stress builds up, i.e. the scalp, neck, shoulders, upper back, upper arms and face. This massage also helps revive tired muscles, relieve tension and stiffness in the neck and shoulders, ease insomnia, headaches, eyestrain, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, boost oxygen flow to the brain, dissipate mental fatigue and improve concentration / focus. As this is a 30 minute treatment, the cost is £25. Particular area of interest: To promote wellness at all levels (emotional, mental and spiritual). We all have the ability to heal ourselves and how we feel and think has a direct influence on our overall state. My approach is to create more awareness on the effect of thoughts and emotions on our physical wellbeing. My aim is to help empower clients to take control of their health and move through life with more understanding, balance and harmony. I believe an integral part of my work is to create a safe, caring atmosphere, practice with respect and without judgement, to the highest good of the client.
