Financial cutsAs a result of Central government cutting funds to local government, Camden council is having to make major savings. This will inevitably have a flow-on effect to health and social care in Camden. Women + Health is no exception. Two of our highly successful programmes the Caring Breaks service and the Caring and Talking Together service (providing much needed health services to Carers) have had their funding cut, and as of June 2011 will no longer be operating.
We think the council need to hear how important Women + Health is to its users, and how cutting our funding will affect the people that live in Camden. If you have a moment, we would be very grateful if you could help us by sending a letter to your local councillor and by signing our online petition.

Why the work of organisations such as Women + Health is so importantAs part of the celebration of 100 years of International Women's Day a coalition of charities have formed to address issues facing women in the UK today. Alongside Oxfams global ambassador Annie Lennox OBE, the EQUALS coalition comprises ActionAid, Amnesty International, Care International UK, The Fawcett Society, Oxfam, Plan International, Save the Children, The White Ribbon Alliance For Safe Motherhood, Womens Aid and Women for Women International. The link below is to clip that demonstrates the current issues facing women and why the work of organisations such as Women + Health is so important.
