Bowen Technique

Bowen Technique is a non-invasive, holistic body therapy consisting of a sequence of gentle moves over muscles and soft tissues, interspersed with periods of rest. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points on the body making rolling-type moves which aim to stimulate energy into the muscle and soft tissues. During the treatment the therapist will leave the room for short periods, allowing the client to rest while the body responds to the moves already performed and makes subtle adjustments to initiate the healing process.

A treatment ususally lasts about 45 minutes and can be applied through light clothing. It is recommended that in order to obtain the full benefit, other "hands-on" therapies are not applied less than 7 days before or after Bowen as these may interfere with the healing process.

Conditions which have responded to the Bowen Technique include:

Headache, migraine, tinnitus, hayfever, jaw problems, bronchial/respiratory problems, whiplash, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica, knee hand and foot problems, hamstring problems, groin strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, IBS, depression, and menstrual problems.
